James Metcalf is Lecturer in Eighteenth-Century English Literature at The University of Manchester. He has published essays on Charlotte Smith, Robert Blair, and Elizabeth Carter, and his monograph, Churchyard Poetics: Labour, Landscape, and the Legacy of Genre, is forthcoming with Oxford University Press.
